Is Technology Making People Lazy?

Technological innovations are changing people’s lives in various ways, bringing convenience and comfort. However, such benefits are causing people to become lazy.

The laziness nourished by such innovations can be mainly reflected in two ways. Firstly, people do less chores because of technological advancements. For instance, smart home appliances are helping people do all sorts of chores from cleaning floors to turning on lights. Consequently, people can indulge in being reluctant to do things themselves. Second, with the development of search engines, people no longer have the motive to learn new things. They become too dependent on search results to even start to memorize the knowledge in their minds.

There are some measures that can handle these situations. For one thing, people should build up a sensible opinion on technological aid, knowing that it is supplementary rather than essential. For another, digital gadgets should be used sensibly less so that people would be able to remain active in daily life.

In conclusion, technology is indeed making people lazy, yet we should do our best to prevent this.
