01月28日：That car nearly hit me! That was too close for comfort.那辆车差点撞到我！真的好险。   

close for comfort：太过靠近，为寻安慰太过亲近
例如： The examinations are getting too close for comfort. I really must do some work.（考试迫在眉睫，我得赶紧着手准备了。）
           The guy behind is too close for comfort!（在后面追赶的家伙逼得太紧了！）

01月29日：For o ne year she was not allowed to go outside.有一整年她不被允许出门。  

：v. 允许，许可；给予，让…得到；承认；允许进入；接受；听任
例如：Please allow me to offer you my apologies.（请允许我向各位表示歉意。）
          We all allow him to be a good athlete.（我们都承认他是一个优秀运动员。）

01月30日：They never heard from her again.他们再也没有收到过她的信。  

from：接到…的信，受…的批评
例如：I hope to hear from you before long.（我希望不久就能收到你的信。）
          If you make any noise again,you'll hear from him.（如果你再吵闹，他可就要批评你了。）

01月31日：Shall we go for a drink?我们去酒吧喝一杯怎么样？   

for a drink：去喝一杯
例如：Won't you go for a drink?（你去不去喝一杯呢？）
          We are just go for a drink. can you come?（我们正要去喝点东西，你能来吗？）

02月01日：I was grappling to find an answer to his question.我正在努力解决他的问题。     

e：v. 抓住；与…扭打；努力解决
例如：The thug grappled him around the neck.（那个歹徒抓住了他的脖子。）
          He grapple with the problem for an hour before he solve it.（他费了一个小时才解出了那道题。）

02月02日：Samples of the water contained pesticide.水样中含有杀虫剂。    

n：v. 包含；可容纳；控制…；可被…除尽
例如：The atlas contains forty maps.（这个地图集有四十幅地图。）
          Can't you contain your enthusiasm?（你不能控制一下你的热情吗？）

02月03日：He heard a splat as the egg hit the floor.鸡蛋掉在地上时他听到啪哒一声响声。   

：n. 啪嗒声，溅泼声
例如：I landed in the water with a splat!（啪嗒一声我掉进了水里。）
         Splat! Another bellyflop. （啪嗒一声！又一次肚子先着水。）
