In Taiwan, the incumbent leader and chairman of the ruling Kuomintang, has won the island's leadership election. Meanwhile, at a press conference at the Democratic Progressive Party headquarters, Tsai Ing-wen spoke of her failure in the election and announced that she would resign from her position as DPP chairwoman. Ma Ying-jeou's inauguration is expected to take place in May. But this will be his last stay in office, as Taiwan leaders can serve only two 4-year terms. Taiwan's "legislative" election was also held on Saturday, and the ruling Kuomintang has also won a majority in this election, winning 64 seats in the 113-member chamber.
