Democrats are on the verge of what's expected to be a health care victory. The Senate is poise to vote on the measure before heading out for the Christmas holiday Thursday.

A legal aide says Sean Goldman's Brazilian family has decided to end its legal fight for custody. That's comes after a federal court ordered that the nine-year-old boy be turned over to his American father by Thursday morning. The decision ends a five-year fight by Goldman to regain custody of his son.

A Colorado Judge has sentenced the parents of the balloon boy saga to jail time. Richard Heene got 90 days for falsely reporting that his son has floated away in the balloon. His wife got a 20-day sentence. The parents have also been barred from making money off the hoax for at least four years.
