I think it is true that in almost every country today each household and family produces a large amount of waste every week. Most of this rubbish comes from the packaging from the things we buy, such as processed food. But even if we buy fresh food without packaging, we still produce rubbish from the plastic bags used everywhere to carry shopping home. The reason why we have so much packaging is that we consume so much more on a daily basis than families did in the past. Convenience is also very important in modern life, so we buy packaged or canned food that can be transported from long distances and stored until we need it, first in the supermarket, and then at home.
我认为，如今几乎在所有国家，各家各户在每周都会产生大量垃圾。大部分垃圾来源于我们的购物包装，譬如加工食品。但是即使我们购买未经包装的新鲜食品，垃圾仍然会由于我们使用塑料袋而产生，人们到处使用这些塑料袋来将所购物品带回家。 我们之所以会产出如此多的包装垃圾，是因为我们每天对商品的消耗量比过去的家庭的消耗量要多得多。另外，便利性在现代生活中显得尤为重要。因此，我们会购买那些能够长途运输过来的袋装或罐头食品，先是在超市里，然后是在家里，一直储存到我们想吃的时候。
