Civil rights advocates are vowing to fight Arizona’s tough new law targeting illegal immigration. It requires police to ask people about their immigration status if there is reason to believe they are in the country illegally.

Airlines are appealing to passengers to give up their seats to travelers stranded by the ash cloud that spewed from Iceland’s volcano. Carriers across Europe are trying to clear a backlog of thousands of tourists grounded by the crisis.

Like a Key lime pie? Key West was the place to be Friday. A gargantuan Key lime pie measuring 7 feet in diameter and 450 pounds was prepared for the island’s annual independence celebration. It marks the Key’s 1982 mock secession from America.
