At long last, we “Downton Abbey” fans have been given a morsel to savor: the trailer for the new season has surfaced, thanks to what appears to be a clever videotaping of a U.K. video, provided by New York’s Vulture.

The new season airs in the U.S. starting January 2013. The trailer opens at the home of the Crawleys, and the Dowager Countess of Grantham (Maggie Smith) announces the arrival of Lady Grantham’s mother, Martha Levinson (played by new cast member Shirley MacLaine). We’re in for a treat when MacLaine goes hat-to-hat with Smith on that side of the pond.

Meanwhile, Bates is still in prison and his beloved Anna is still devoted. Robert, Earl of Grantham, appears to be having some money problems, and surprise, all doesn’t seem to go happily ever after for Lady Mary and Matthew (“but if we could disagree over something as fundamental as this then shouldn’t we be brave and back away now?” Groan. Cue the snowfall!)

Other storylines and characters aren’t addressed yet in the trailer, such as Lady Sybil’s controversial marriage to the family chauffeur, and whether or not Lady Edith finally finds true love.

开播前的好消息是今年的“艾美奖”（提名中，该剧获得了包括最佳剧情类剧集（Best Drama Series）在内的16项提名，这个成绩仅次于美剧《广告狂人》和《美国怪谭》的17项。

第三季《唐顿庄园》将于今年9月，在ITV电视台正式播出，随后于明年1月登陆美国PBS电视网播出。
