Tourists have started evacuating from Ocracoke Island in North Carolina, the first test to see if people will get out of the way of potentially Major Hurricane Irene.

Moammar Gadhafi is out of the public eye but not staying quiet. In an audio carried by local TV, he called on residents of the Libyan capital to free Tripoli. The message comes a day after rebels stormed Gaddafi's fortress-like compound in the capital but found no signs of the long time leader.
