President Barack Obama is set to announce a decision Wednesday on the withdrawal of thousands of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, which is scheduled to begin in July. The eventual goal is to give Afghans control of their own security in 2014.

Today is Congressman Anthony Weiner's last day in Congress. Weiner, who was undone by a sexting scandal, officially notified House Speaker John Boehner and New York state officials of his resignation yesterday.

After being trapped underground in a flooded coal mine in Kentucky, three mine maintenance workers have been rescued. The men spent more than half a day 600 feet underground in a dry location as crews pumped water out of the mine, allowing them to walk out.

At 80-year-old, Jack Mckeon is the second oldest manager in Major League history. Mckeon has taken over as interim manager of the Florida Marlins, the team he led to a World Series in 2003.
