You have to run, you have to jump, you have to throw - you have to be super-woman to win the heptathlon! It's seven different events - and you have two days to do them all: the high jump, the long jump, the javelin, the shot put, the 100m hurdles, the 200m and the 800m. Jessica Ennis is the UK's poster girl for the London Olympics - but is she super-woman?

Jessica began athletics when she was ten years old. It was the summer holidays. She says:

'My mum and dad wanted me out of the house!' She trained and competed through school, then she went to university and studied psychology. She became a professional athlete in 2005. In 2007 she went to her first World Championships. She didn't get a medal - but a lot of people noticed her. They knew she would be a champion one day. In 2008 she had qualified to go to the Beijing Olympics, but she never got there. She injured her right foot shortly before the Games. She thought her career was over.

But after a year Jessica was back - and she was better than ever. She won Gold and became World Champion at Berlin in 2009. In 2010 she won Gold at the indoor World Championships. She was a double world champion and the first British woman to win both outdoor and indoor World titles. Later that year she won Gold in the European Championships, too.

By this time everybody thought she was super-woman. They were sure she would get gold in 2012. She was Britain's 'Female Athlete of the Year' and she was everywhere - on the TV, on posters - even in Madame Tussauds, the famous waxworks in London.

In August 2011, she went to the World Athletics Championships in Daegu. She was hoping for Gold and she was hoping to keep her title - but she didn't. She only got Silver. A Russian, Tatyana Chernova, won the Gold and the title. It was Jessica's first defeat in two years.

She was disappointed but positive:
'If I had to win silver anywhere it's here. Not next year when I want the Olympic gold.'

Can she beat Chernova in 2012?
'Yes, definitely I can.'

She sounds like super-woman to me!
