Right now they are just talking procedure, but President Barack Obama says the relaunch of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks is a promising step forward. Senior Israeli and Palestinian negotiators are on their way to Washington for the first direct talks between the two sides in years. 
 
Connecticut and Massachusetts authorities searched in and around a lake in the hometown of Aaron Hernandez. He's the former New England Patriots player charged with murder. Connecticut police wouldn't say what they were looking for at Pine Lake in Bristol. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in the death of Odin Lloyd.
 
Pope Francis appears to be signaling a shift in tone, if not church policy toward gays. While returning from his first papal trip to Brazil, the pontiff said if someone is gay and he searches for the lord, who am I to judge? Francis' predecessor, Pope Benedict signed a document saying men who had deep-rooted homosexual tendencies should not be priests.
 
And President Obama welcomed the World Series champions to the White House today. It’s the second trip in three years for the San Francisco Giants. Hall of Famer Willie Mays was also in attendance
