Why will it take so long for the lights to come back on? That's the question nearly 1.8 million people without electricity on the East Coast are asking. Officials warned that some neighborhoods may be in the dark for most of the week.

Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills was severely injured in an explosion while serving in Afghanistan. Today, he's one of five quadruple amputees in the U.S. military to survive such injury. He's now undergoing physical therapy in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where his recovery could last a year.

The search is back on to find clues in a mysterious disappearance of female aviator Amelia Earhart and her plane. On Tuesday, searchers and salvagers embarked on a $2.2 million expedition to find wreckage from Earhart's plane that went missing over the Pacific Ocean 75 years ago.

And Barclays' Chief Executive Bob Diamond has resigned with immediate effect. The British banking giant was fined $453 million last week by U.S. and British regulators over false reports on interbank borrowing. Chairman Marcus Agius will serve as CEO until replacement is found.
