Most models are thought to be tall, fit, and wear a size zero. But as online shopping becomes the main gateway for purchases, internet clothing companies are looking to capture a look that their customers can relate to.

While most college students are taking it easy during the labor day break, Yu Lilu is keeping herself busy.

Yu Lilu said, "I have my own website online, which has my pictures and some of my personal information. For example, my height, weight and contact info."

Yu works as an internet model or "madou" in Chinese. A job in increasing demand in China as online shopping is becoming all the rage.

And although still in her junior year in college, Yu's already established a reputation and steady contacts in the business.

Chen Ziyan, an online shop owner, said, "The focus of the shoot today will be on summer clothes as summer is nearing. We’ll have you wear dresses, T-shirts and such."

Despite ourstereotypes about models having 24-hour body guards and assistants at their beckon call, Yu says her experience as an internet model is not at all like that. And she is all too familiar with makeshift changing rooms such as this one.

Chen Ziyan also said, "We like models that look more personable. Professional models are too tall. Even if they look good in our clothes they don’t look like our average shopper."

She says the criteria for internet models are very different from runway modeling. Having a personable look and the willingness to showcase them are the keys.

Chen said, "The photoshoot has gone very well today. The pictures are good."

Yu Lilu says she doesn't want to work as an internet model forever, but she appreciates the confidence and experience the job has brought her.
