Maria Callas, the most celebrated soprano of the century, packed as much drama and fireworks in the personal life as she did on the operatic stage.

Shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis courted Miss Callas, while her six year marriage to an Italian tycoon reached annulment. Later Jackie Kennedy entered the picture, leaving the legendary “Divine Callas,“ as an adoring public called her, in the cold. “After all what is a legend? The public made me - What is a legend“?

The legend was of a New York born daughter of Greek parents whose personality and theatrical talents transcended whatever imperfections her soprano voice may have had. The Divine Callas unofficially retired in 1965, but came back in 1973, before her death at the age of 53.
