上海世博会倒计时300天之际，第五届上海市中学生迎世博英语大奖赛世博小记者夏令营在昆山市未成年人素质教育校外实践基地开营。本次活动是由文汇新民联合报业集团新闻信息中心、上海市中学生迎世博英语大奖赛组委会和《上海日报》社联合举办的。成功进入迎世博英语大奖赛复赛的近200名中学生参加了此次为期一周的夏令营活动。

为了培养中学生参与世博、服务世博的主人翁意识，并且能够带领家庭、学校及身边的朋友关心世博、宣传世博，从而在2010年上海世博会期间，展现上海的城市精神、上海年轻人的优秀素质，此次夏令营突出培养营员在英语能力、世博知识和新闻采写相关技巧等方面的能力。本次活动的优秀学员，还将成为“世博小记者采风团”的一员，优秀习作将在媒体上开辟专栏发表。学员们普遍反应，通过本次夏令营活动，不仅增强了自己的英语交流和人际交往能力，还进一步了解了世博、提高了服务世博的意识和专业技能。

Last week Kunshan, a city near Shanghai's suburban Jiading and Qingpu districts, was bustling with young students taking part in an Expo English camp.

The 200 participants were Shanghai junior and senior high school students who were ready to compete in the semi-finals of the 2009 World Expo English Competition.

They received training in English proficiency, Expo knowledge and news writing skills in lectures, including one provided by Shanghai Daily teaching them how to write English news stories.

Some of the outstanding students will have their stories published in local newspapers.

Other outdoor events included a bonfire party, a barbecue, a basketball match and a tour of Kunshan.

Many students said the camp improved their oral English as well as their Expo-related knowledge.
