U.S.,Cuba to resume talks on migration, direct mail: official

Cuba has agreed to resume talks with the United States over issues of migration and direct mail.

A U.S. government official says Cuba also expressed its willingness to cooperate with the US on fighting terrorism, drug trafficking and hurricane disaster preparedness.

The talks between the two countries were last held in 2003 and were unilaterally suspended by the Bush administration in 2004.

Hamas considers withdrawing from inter-Palestinian dialogue: spokesman

The Palestinian militant group Hamas says it's considering withdrawing from the inter- Palestinian dialogue following the killing of two of its members by security forces of president Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank.

Three policemen and a civilian were also killed in the armed clashes which broke off early Sunday.

50 militants killed in offensive in Pakistan's tribal region

At least 50 militants were killed during the last 24 hours in the security forces' operation in Pakistan's tribal region.

Private Geo TV channel reports security forces launched the offensive in different areas of South Waziristan tribal agency, an area bordering Afghanistan.

Security forces are still battling militants in Swat and other parts of North West Frontier Province.

Last survivor of the Titanic dies, aged 97

The last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic, Millvina Dean, died Sunday in her sleep. She was 97.

Dean died at her nursing home in southern England, on the 98th anniversary of the launch of the ship that was billed as "practically unsinkable."

She was just over 2 months old when the Titanic hit an iceberg on the night of April 14, 1912. The ship sank in less than three hours.

Nadal crashes out of French Open

Rafael Nadal has crashed out of the French Open in the fourth round.

The four-time defending champion lost in a stunning upset to Robin Soderling of Sweden in four sets Sunday, ending the Spaniard's record 31-match winning streak at Roland Garros.

Defending women's champion Ana Ivanovic also lost, and China's Li Na succumbed to Maria Sharapova in three sets.
