Netflix has launched a full-blown exploration on creating their original series with the premiere of 'Marco Polo' on December 12.

The trailer, set in the 13th century, shows how Maffeo Polo, offered to leave his son, Marco Polo, as collateral to Kublai Khan, the leader and ruler of the Mongol Empire. Khan uses Marco Polo as his spy in the Far East, which jump starts the main premise of the show.
