Filmed by Toby Amies over a period of four years, The Man Whose Head Exploded follows Drako as he goes about his business unburdened by time. Drako doesn't appear to know who Amies is most of the time; regardless, he is completely accepting of this man with a camera turning up daily, documenting a life without memories."Trust, absolute, unconditional," repeats Drako. "I've got it tattooed on my arm."
The Aladdin's cave of notes and pictures that form the backdrop to most of the film isn't any old collection of rubbish, it's a collection of Drako's memories, pinned to every surface of his tiny flat. Notes about doctor's appointments hang next to homoerotic images – although it's unclear how long either have been there. Onlythe ringing of Drako's doorbell signifies the passing of days and months.
