She was nominated for 12 catergories at this years Billboard Music Awards, and despite only receiving two gongs at the ceremony, 17-year-old singer Lorde still made sure she made a lasting impression on her peers on Sunday night.

Lorde who completed her look with her brown locks slicked back from her face in a poker straight style, beat Bastille, Capital Cities, Ariana Grande and Passenger to take the prize of Best New Artist.

She also took the prize for Top Rock Song with Royals - when the result was revealed some people on Twitter questioned whether Lorde should have qualified for gong.
