背景介绍：

Tragically, it is now “cool” for a man to act feminine. Television shows promote dress crosser entertainers, such as LI Yugang, LUO Zhixiang, HUANG Xiaoming, etc, to an ever greater extent. Anyone who is different – who represents the strong men of previous generations – is literally scorned and laughed at.
Another aspect of our society is that men are generally pictured as dumb weaklings. Take a moment to look at a typical scenario in commercials or advertisements: The wise, balanced, reasonable wife tries to convince her brainless, weak-willed, irrational husband that he should do this or not do that.

范例1：

The most important component for a true manhood is having character. What exactly is character? It is knowing right from wrong, turning from the wrong and doing what is right, even in the face of pressure and temptations to give in. Character needs to be exercised in all areas of your life – big and small.
Character is revealed through your actions, and therefore it defines who you are. You should not be concerned with how you act just because the other people around you, but how you behave all the time. Character is not something you turn on or off depending upon whose presence you are in.
I am reminded of a popular song “True Manhood” that was on the radio many years ago. It was sung by LIN Zixiang and it said “To be a true man, bear the pain and frustration. … To be a true man, we all are doomed to death. …. To be a bloody true man, let’s bravely jump into the competition field and make up our own amazing story with our own hands. …”.
Seemingly, masculinity can now only be found in history books or vintage musical ballads – the only places where terms such as “honor” and “character” still exist. What has replaced manhood is a shame.

Though it seems to be a little stereotypical that men should be decisive, confident and persistent, in my mind, the characteristics mentioned above are still a true man should possess.

Firstly, historical rule of human beings makes it natural for males and females to play a different role both in society and in family. Men are usually regarded as backbone of a family（I absolutely do not mean to offend feminism）. Their braveness and decisiveness provide the whole family with a strong sense of safety. Take myself for example, when I was a little girl, no matter what predicament I had encountered, I would never felt frustrated, as I knew that my father could solve any problem.

Secondly, confidence and persistence are inevitable for someone who want to be a true man. Santiago, the main character in the novel the Old Man and the Sea has ever said that a man can be destroyed but cannot be defeated. I firmly believe that a true man will never be overcome. His confidence and persistence qualify him to obtain any glory.

I really despise those sissy men. In my perspective of view, a man must be masculine. His behavior must conform to basic expectation of society. He may be not a hero, but he is definitely a true man.
