背景介绍：

Over 27? Unmarried? Female? In China, you could be labelled a "leftover woman" by the state - but some professional Chinese women these days are happy being single.

National Bureau of Statistics data shows there are now about 20 million more men under 30 than women under 30.

"Ever since 2007, the state media have aggressively disseminated this term in surveys, and news reports, and columns, and cartoons and pictures, basically stigmatising educated women over the age of 27 or 30 who are still single," says Leta Hong-Fincher, an American doing a sociology PhD at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Census figures for China show that around one in five women aged 25-29 is unmarried.

The proportion of unmarried men that age is higher - over a third. But that doesn't mean they will easily match up, since Chinese men tend to "marry down", both in terms of age and educational attainment.

Why these ladies become leftover ladies?

范例1：

Single and childless women in their 30s or older are loser dogs. They're also called "3S Women" - single, seventies, stuck. There are many reasons for staying single. Firstly, These women can enjoy the opportunity of building their career. They can get higher salary in their working. Secondly, without a family to care for, or a husband to order them about, they enjoy sizable disposable incomes and lots of free time. It's said that marriage can be hard work and parenting even harder. Thirdly, they can do what they want, when they want. When they want to go shopping, or go travelling, they can do it immediately, without considering their family or boyfriends. Last but not the least, these ladies' standards are set very high.

范例2：

It’s a group of young women who are old enough in age yet haven’t got married. They are left single not that they are not attractive enough to men but that they are prone to treat the opposite sex as similarly as they pick and choose clothes in clothing stores. In most cases, they demand much higher than what the men can give, which I think is the main reason that causes them to remain single for a long period of time.

Is there any way for them to help themselves out, if any? As an adult man, I think the only way is to change the way how they treat marriage and what they think of family.

Recently, an increasing number of well-educated women remain single in their 30s. Our society puts a great pressure on them. We, however, should not simply criticize them. It is not all their fault.

On one hand, those well-educated women have played significant roles in our society, and some of them even become prominent leaders as well. It is natural for them to expect equivalent outstanding partner. Pathetically, the ideal partners are as rare as hen's teeth in our society. In other words, it is very hard for women to find ideal partners .On the other hand, normally, outstanding and successful men tend to seek those much younger and not so dominant ladies to become their future wives. The huge gap of men and women makes this issue almost unsolvable.

While some people assert that women have to get married at the early age, it is my personal belief that women deserve a wonderful life of their own rather than choosing an under-qualified husband.
