09月16日:If Tom cannot keep his promise, he'll lose face.如果汤姆不能信守诺言,他就会丢面子。

face:丢脸,失面子
例如:His careless work made him lose face with his teacher.(他工作疏忽使他在老师面前丢脸。)
          He tried to conceal his mistake so as not to lose face.(他知道他错了,但怕丢面子而不敢承认。)

09月17日:That'll put us both in the picture.这样双方都能了解全面的情况。

sb. in the picture:把情况告诉某人,使某人了解情况
例如:Mr. Geoffrey, could you put us in the picture?(杰弗里先生,请您把情况告诉我们好吗?)
          Can you put me in the picture about the World Cup Football Match?(你能给我讲讲关于世界杯足球赛的状况吗?)

09月18日:I can't say for certain offhand.我还不能马上说定。

例如:Offhand I can't make a clear explanation.(一下子我还不能解释清楚。)

修理,修补;改善,改进
