背景介绍:

The traditional food of the Dragon Boat Festival is zòngzi (粽子), sticky rice parcels that recall the rice thrown in to distract the feeding fish from the poet's remains.
Pyramids of rice are wrapped in bamboo leaves and steamed for hours, their glutinous sticky insides a mix of rice with sweet or savory flavors of pork, bamboo, egg yolk, bean paste or dates. Traditionally, families would make their own zòngzi, but with lifestyles becoming increasingly busy, these days buying ready-mades is quite acceptable. Weighing in at about 450 calories per piece however, zòngzi are not for the diet conscious, and with China's ever-expanding waistbands in the news, Taipei's Cathay Hospital has come to the rescue with a recipe for zòngzi-lite that replace glutinous rice with mashed pumpkin or tofu, braised pork with chicken and bamboo with lots of seasonal vegetables, such as eggplants and long beans.

Today is the Dragon Boat Festival, the original festival in China. As a native Cantonese, I can say only if you have a taste of Guangzhou's zongzi, you can get some understanding of Guangzhou cate.

Guozheng Zongzi is the improved zongzi. Zongzi is a pyramid-shaped mass of glutious rice wrapped in leaves. Guangzhou zongzi features big size and nice shape. Fillings beside the fresh meati, there are sliced chicken, sliced duck, barbeque pork, vitelline mung bean and so on. There are other fruit zongzi too. When in winter, get a very thermal zongzi in hands, and poke the leave-pack piece by piece then the savory smell is thicker and thicker. You will have the feeling that a warm current is passing through every part of the body. At last the yum taste is indeed make you warm all over.

So welcome you to Guangzhou to taste some Guangzhou delicious zongzi and also some snacks.

There are various forms of Zongzin. Salty pork Zongzi is my favourite. We can find pork soaked in soy sauce or bean paste in the middle of the glutinous rice. I am obsessed with Zongzi as it not only is delicious but carries my family’s affection.


My Mum makes Zongzi every year. Making Zongzi is a difficult proposition so she has to take a day-off to accomplish it. She will call me to get it after the Zongzi are done. Eating the Zongzi, I can feel the caring wrapped by the bamboo leaves.
