背景介绍:

Have you ever skipped classes? I believe most of the college students will say “Yes”.
However, maybe there are someone who answer“No” even “Never”. What I what to say is “Really”? Perhaps you do stay in the classroom, but what are you doing? Chatting with your friends, playing games, or enjoying your music? Above all, you are in the classroom while your heart isn’t there. And this phenomenon is the so-called “Recessive truancy”(隐性逃课), whichis on the contrary of the “Dominant truancy”(显性逃课).

话题:

1. Compared with the “Dominant truancy” we commonly see, what do you think of the new phenomenon of “Recessive truancy”?

2. Show your different ideas ofthose two kinds of skipping classes.

范例1:

Skipping classes has become one of the “Four Pities” in campus now. To compare with “Dominant truancy”,there even appears a relative concept of “Recessive truancy”.

“Recessivetruancy” means the fact that students sit in the classroom, but they sleep, play games, or do something else without listening to the teacher. As to this phenomenon, I hold the idea that those students have no necessary to stay there completely and they can go back to do what are of great significance for them. Besides, if one is quite good at something in a particular field such as programming, dancing, or writing, he’d better spare no effort to achieve his dream as long as guarantees himself a  bachelor’s degree.

From my perspective, “Dominant Truancy” should be treated dialectically, for it is a pity for those geniuses to be restricted to the classes they have no interest at all. However, I am not in favor of “Recessive truancy”.

范例2:

Not attending class is no big deal. The job of a student is to learn, whether that means listening to the teacher, reading the textbook, finding extra material at the library, or searching for resources online. If the student feels that he or she already has a good grasp of the material and can score well on the test, thenthere is no need to attend class. If the student does go to class, as long ashe or she is quite, it does not matter what they do. At the end of the day, the objective is to learn, not just to take notes in class.
