Hong Kong pop star Jacky Cheung has brought his "Half Century Tour" to a close on home turf. The 50-year-old singer kicked off the tour in Shanghai at the end of 2010. 17 months and 146 concerts later, he’s performed in 77 cities to nearly 3 million fans. It was quite an emotional farewell.

Wednesday saw the night of song Jacky Cheung wanted before turning 51. For close to four hours, Cheung said farewell to fans with more than 40 songs, including four encores.

Cheung says after the tour wraps, he’ll be taking a break to spend quality time with his family.

At the post-concert party, the pop star was given an award inscribed with "God of Songs", his nickname given by fans and the media.

Jacky Cheung, Pop singer, said, "I want to thank all the organizers. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Chan. Thank you to the crew, dancer, lights, sounds, costumes, make-up and the hair team."

Also there for Cheung’s last show was fellow singer Eason Chan, who’s always named Cheung as his inspiration and idol.

Cheung broke into the Hong Kong music scene in the 1980s after entering into a singing competition. His popularity soared in the 90s. This earned him the title of one Hong Kong’s "Four Heavenly Kings" alongside Andy Lau, Leon Lai and Aaron Kwok.
