Famous Redology scholar Zhou Ruchang died at home on Thursday at 1:59 a.m., according to his daughter Zhou Lunling. He was 95.
据周汝昌先生之女周伦玲所言，这位著名的红学家于周四凌晨在家中去世，享年95岁。

Zhou was born in north China's Tianjin in 1918. Since the foundation of People's Republic of China in 1949, Zhou was the first scholar to study "Dream of the Red Chamber," one of China's Four Great Classical Novels.
周汝昌于1918年生于天津咸水沽镇。他是1949年新中国成立以来，研究《红楼梦》的第一人，是享誉海内外的考证派主力和集大成者。

Zhou published dozens of works exclusively devoted to the "Dream of the Red Chamber." Most readers believed that the first 80 chapters of the novel were written by Cao Xueqin and that Gao E added 40 additional chapters to complete it. But Zhou believed that Cao had written the entire novel, although the additional chapters had been lost. Zhou published his research on the additional chapters of the book and presented a complete version of the real "Dream of the Red Chamber.
周汝昌一生著述六十多部，其中多数是和红学研究有关。大多数读者都认为《红楼梦》的前80章是曹雪芹本人撰写的，而后40章是高鹗所续。但周老认为是曹雪晴本人写了整本小说，尽管其中的一部分章节丢失了。周汝昌先生发表了对于《红楼梦》后续章节的研究，并展现了一个《红楼梦》的完整版本。
