Electronic Arts is apparently looking to capitalize on the success of the recent The Fast and the Furious films by shopping around for a film based on the publisher’s popular Need for Speed franchise.

According to a recent report from Variety, EA tasked producer John Gatins and writer George Gatins to come up with a pitch for a Need for Speed film to shop around Hollywood, and it looks like plenty of studios are interested–just about all major studios, in fact.

The report says that Warner Bros., Sony and Paramount are all interested in snatching up the film rights for the Need for Speed franchise, with reported offers being in the low seven figure range.

Paramount is said to be leading in early bidding for the Need for Speed film rights, but EA is still considering offers from other studios. Just about the only studio that doesn’t appear interested is Universal, which makes sense considering they already have that niche covered.

Considering the longevity and success of the Need for Speed franchise, it would make sense that EA is looking to cash in on possible film deals–the publisher’s latest title, Need for Speed: The Run, managed to sell 700,000 copies within its first month on store shelves in the U.S. alone, and 2010′s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit had a sell-through of 8.5 million as of May 5, 2011.
