My heart stood still heart-to-heart talk 从科学的角度来看，人的心就是人体内输送血液的重要部份。但是，对我们大多数人来说，人的心要比这意义深远的多，它不仅是维持生命所不可缺少的一部份肌体，而且也是人的各种感情的源泉。今天我们再来讲两个和"心"，也就是英文里的 "heart"这个字有关的习惯用语。首先,我们要讲的是：My heart stood still。我们上面已经说过，"heart"就是心， stood 就是 stand 的过去时，意思是站着， still 就是静止的、不动的。大家可能从字面上已经猜到 My heart stood still 的意思了。 My heart stood still 就是指某件事使你非常害怕，或惊恐，以致你的心脏都几乎停止跳动了。我们来举个例子吧： "My heart stood still when the other car ran through the red light and I knew we were about to crash." 这个人说："当我看到那辆汽车穿红灯的时候，我知道我们要撞车了。我的心都好像停止跳动了。" 这种心情不仅会出现在自己处于危险的时候，在看到别人遭到危险的时候也同样会产生类似的情景。下面这个例子就能说明这一点： "I have to tell you my heart stood still when I saw that baby fall into the water. But that boy jumped right in after the kid and pulled him out before he went under -- that boy deserves a medal." 这个人说："我告诉你，当我眼看那小孩掉下水去的时候真是把我吓得几乎连心都停止跳动了。但是，那个年轻人立即就跳到水里，还没等那小孩沉下水去，就把他救了出来。他真应该得到一枚奖章！" 我们要介绍的第二个和 heart 这个字有关的俗语是： heart-to-heart talk。 Heart-to-heart talk 的意思就是两个人很严肃、很坦率地谈论一些私事。 Heart-to-heart talk 翻译到中文就是"坦诚地谈话"，或者是"促膝谈心"。比如说，当一个妻子发觉他的丈夫在赛马方面花的钱太多，她可能就要和她丈夫好好地进行一次 heart-to-heart talk。或者，一个工作人员老是迟到早退的话，他的老板可能就要把他找到办公室来进行一次 heart-to-heart talk。下面我们来举个例子吧： "Son, you and I have to sit down and have a heart-to-heart talk about your school grades.
