A government report says GAO investigators were able to smuggle liquid explosives and detonators passed TSA screeners at nineteen airports in recent months. The TSA spokeswoman says the investigators only tested one of nineteen layers of security.

The House of Representatives has passed a 50 billion dollar Iraq war funding bill but it's not expected to make through the Senate. The House bill would require President Bush to start bringing troops home within a matter of weeks. It passed 218 to 203.

Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf and his aides are busy finalizing a care-taker government. It will be responsible for leading Pakistan through January elections. Meanwhile opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was talking to another opposition politician in an effort to form an alliance against Musharraf. She is under house arrest.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is giving a record number of cars and trucks top marks. The institute says 34 vehicles are now listed as Top Safety Picks. Another 23 would have made the list if they had better seat and head restraints.
