This Day in History - On August 20th, 1968 - Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia.

The Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia installed the kind of leadership demanded by Moscow. [-----1-----]. Alexander Dubcek, (leader of Czechoslovakia), was forced to abandon his liberal reforms after several hundred thousand Soviet soldiers invaded his nation on August 20th, 1968. Dubcek [-----2-----], and neither was Prague as angered citizens fought heavily armed tanks with guns, sticks and bare hands. Despite the obvious superiority of Soviet weaponry, [-----3-----] persisted for months, while Soviet officials demanded that Dubcek abandon his democratic reforms and crack down on the press.
