Months later, Richard Nixon wins a landslide Presidential election. “I had no prior knowledge of the Watergate break-in. [-----2-----].“ Within a year of the break-in, investigations of the Watergate scandal exploded to [-----3-----]. Indicted were White House staff leaders John Erlichman and Bob Halderman , along with John Dean, who was hinted at Presidential involvement in the cover-up. [-----4-----], Richard Nixon became the first US President to resign from office.
