On October 20, 1944, MacArthur returns to the Phillipines.
In 1930, at the age of 50, General Douglas MacArthur became the U.S. Army's youngest [-----1-----]. Years later, his heroic defense of the Phillipines brought him international recognition. [-----2-----] to hold first Batan and then the island of Corregidor, he promised the people, “I will return.” And on October 20, 1944, advancing island by island, MacArthur [-----3-----]on the Philippine beaches. Relieved by President Truman over differences in [-----4-----] during the Korean conflict, MacArthur nevertheless came home to a [-----5-----] welcome from coast to coast - truly an American hero.
