没有死刑，也没有终身监禁

葡萄牙不光在废奴的进程上行动得很早，在人权的很多其他方面也走在世界前列。

他们早在1846年就开始着手废除死刑。另外，他们和西班牙一样，都没有终身监禁。

Portugal was a pioneer abolishing Death Penalty. One of the most important facts about Portugal is that in 1846 Portugal started the process of abolishing the Death Penalty and the formal abolishment of capital punishment for civil crimes occurred in 1867. Furthermore, Portugal and Spain are the only countries in the EU to have abandoned life imprisonment as well.
葡萄牙是废除死刑的先驱。关于葡萄牙最重要的事实之一是，1846年，它就开始了废除死刑的进程，对民事犯罪的死刑的正式废除发生于1867年。此外，葡萄牙和西班牙也是欧盟中仅有的两个废除了终身监禁的国家。
