Hurricane Earl is getting closer. Residents of North Carolina have been doing last minute preparations and getting out. The Category 3 storm with 125-mile-per-hour winds is expected to pass close to the Outer Banks overnight on its way to New England and coastal Canada. Massachusetts’ Governor has declared a state of emergency.

Firefighting vessels are battling a blaze on an oil platform off Louisiana coast. The Coast Guard says all 13 people who were aboard the platform were rescued by boat.

Israeli and Palestinian leaders have agreed to keep talking. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has announced another round of peace talks later this month in Egypt.

Amazing video-a group of five men create their own drive-through at a Dallas-area liquor store, driving through the store and crushing the ATM so they can steal it. The men have not been caught.
