Plagued by disease and held down by illiteracy. Now in its 80th year,Notre Dame's Bengal Bouts Competition has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Holy Cross Mission,which provide food,medicine and education for the people of Bangladesh.
When they start out,it's about the boxing and it's about the training and the work out and push-ups and sit-ups and putting on gloves for the first time.But as they go into the program,they realize that we're doing this for a greater cause.
We're not only fighting for ourselves.We're not only fighting so that we can grow.We're fighting so others can grow.That mentality is so essential to what the Notre Dame experience is.
