At least five people are dead, dozens others injured, following a string of tornadoes in Oklahoma. The storms were part of a system that forecasters had been predicting since last week. The twisters tore roofs off businesses and flattened houses. More than 37,000 homes and businesses remain without power.

Republicans are promising a very close look at Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan's credentials. The current Solicitor General is expected to start meeting with Senators tomorrow. It's unclear when her confirmation hearing will start. If confirmed, she would take the place of retiring Justice John Paul Stevens.

Congress began hearings today on the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The Associated Press obtained testimony prepared for a pair of hearings. In it, the executives of the three companies involved in the drilling accident are expected to shift responsibilities to another.

Tiger Woods is looking for a new swing coach. There had been speculation that Hank Hanet was about to leave. But on Monday Woods says he was working with Hanet on his swing. Hank Hanet later announced his resignation, Woods withdrew from the Players Championship on Sunday after suffering neck spasms.
