This Day in History - May 8th,1945 Starring - V-E Day

May 8,1945-After 5 years 8 months and 6 days of massive devastation, the fighting of World War II finally ended, in Europe. At Lunerburg, Germany, the unconditional surrender of all German forces were signed before British Field Marshal Montgomery. "On May 8th, 1945, the total ceasefire was declared," said Winston Churchill to throngs of war-weary Londoners, "this is your victory". Leaders in other allied cities echoed similar sentence. May 8th was cited and it's still honored as V-E Day, for victory in Europe. Although celebrations also broke out in the United States, President Harry Truman warned Americans that victory is but half won. However, 2 months later, victory would be complete with the surrender of the Japanese.
