Just one day after photographs surfaced of Justin Bieber reportedly smoking marijuana with friends in a hotel room, the singer has taken to Twitter to ask his fans for absolution.

On Friday, TMZ released images of the 18-year-old heartthrob puffing on a suspicious cigarette the website claimed contained the illicit drug days after a paparazzo was killed attempting to photograph him.

According to TMZ, Guerra claimed just hours before he died that he saw the pop star smoking cannabis through a pipe in the vehicle. Bieber was not behind the wheel at the time he was killed. The singer's friend, 19-year-old rapper Lil Twist, was reportedly driving Bieber's $200,000 Ferrari and was stopped by police when Guerra rushed to the scene and was told by authorities to step back. He got out of his car to take pictures but was struck by a Toyota Highlander SUV as he was running back to his own vehicle after being told to return to his vehicle repeatedly by police.

Though he didn't address the incident directly, Bieber's series of Twitter admissions early Saturday morning were telling enough.

'everyday growing and learning. trying to be better. u get knocked down, u get up,' he posted.

He continued, acknowledging he had let his young fans down: 'i see all of u. i hear all of u. i never want to let any of you down. i love u. and..thank u. #beliebers'
