美国收视率第一的真人秀节目《美国偶像》（American Idol）终于结束了其长达几个月的比赛，北京时间22日上午10时，第七位美国偶像终于诞生，他就是25岁的摇滚男星大卫·库克（David Cook）。

来自奥马哈的大卫·库克是第一位摇滚曲风的男性美国偶像，之前虽然基本每届都有几名男性摇滚歌手杀入四强，但是都纷纷落马没有一个夺得最后的冠军，也许是为了弥补第五届第四名但是是今年的唱片销量冠军的摇滚男星克里斯·多特里（Chris Daughtry），最终今年美国的观众们把票都投给了这位长相帅气的摇滚歌手。

亚军大卫·阿初来诺（David Archuleta）和上一届的冠军约尔丁·斯巴科斯（Jordin Sparks）同样是17岁，1990年12月28日生于美国迈阿密，2002年参加过选秀节目"Star Search"得到了少年组第一的成绩，后患上了严重的声带疾病，在经历了声带手术，逐渐恢复了。参加了本届《美国偶像》后，大卫·阿初来诺从开始就成为了所有人关注的焦点，其真实没有虚假的性格，真诚深情超越其年龄的现场表演，迅速积累了大量的Fans，他和冠军大卫·库克（David Cook）二人也成为唯一的两个从来没有被票选成为票数最低的三人之一的选手。

决赛的演出，每位选手演绎了三首歌曲，而大卫·阿初来诺以压倒性的胜利风头完全盖过了发挥失利的大卫·库克，可是比赛就是这么有戏剧性，最终还是人气较高的大卫·库克夺得了冠军。
