Like Luke and Rey in “Star Wars,” parentage is also a big mystery on “The Big Bang Theory.” But now one of those mysteries is finally going to be solved.

The casting announcement happened Wednesday at PaleyFest in Los Angeles, and apparently Leonard himself was behind the whole thing.
该选角决定是在周三于洛杉矶举行的PaleyFest电视节上宣布的，而莱纳德则是整个事件的幕后策划者。

Actor Johnny Galecki supposedly met Hirsch at the NBC special for James Burrows and, according to Galecki, “bombarded” him about the role.
据说Johnny Galecki (Leonard扮演者)是在NBC（美国全国广播公司）专场上经由James Burrows(《生活大爆炸》和《老友记》的导演之一)引荐面见了Hirsch，用Galecki的话说，为了剧中老爸的角色而“炮轰”他。

"I just accosted him and cornered him and practically made him commit on the spot to play my father," says Galecki.
“我其实就是上前和他搭讪，然后把他逼上绝境，让他几乎当场答应出演我爸，”Galecki如是说。

The actor, who says he actually watched Hirsch’s character in “Taxi” as inspiration for his own role on the show, then pitched the idea to showrunner Steven Molaro. That pitch obviously went well.
他表示，自己其实一直很崇拜Hirsch,并把他在《出租汽车》(“Taxi”)中出演的角色作为自己在《生活大爆炸》表演时的灵感，于是便产生了邀请Hirsch来出演自己老爸的想法，并把这一想法传达给剧集总监Steven Molaro。显然，这个想法得到了极大的认同和稳妥的落实。

At this point, not a lot is known about Leonard’s father. He’s supposedly an anthropologist and he and Leonard’s mom, Beverly Hofstadter, are divorced.
到目前为止，关于Leonard的老爸我们知道得并不多：他应该是一个人类学家，和Leonard的麻麻Beverly Hofstadter已经离异。

Now that we’re finally getting answers, perhaps the show can take on some other“Big Bang Theory” mysteries as well. Molaro said the show is “open” to meeting any of the missing family members, so it looks like The Force is with us. 
既然我们终究会知道所有答案，或许《生活大爆炸》现在就可以开始着手解开其他谜团了。而Molaro(《生活大爆炸》剧集总监)也对外宣称了这一点。看来，此剧将会逐一触发其他尚未露面的主角家庭成员的隐藏剧情，把家人团结在一起的原力Force确实与我们同在。
