Weeks after hanging up Blair Waldorf's signature headbands for good — star Leighton Meester has debuted a new, much shorter 'do that the prim and proper Queen B might not have approved of.

"Yes! I chopped off my hair after Gossip Girl wrapped," the 26-year-old actress told when she debuted the new look at a dinner Thursday in Los Angeles. "My long, wavy hair got a lot of mileage, so it was time for a change. The girl who did my hair on the show chopped it off and I love it. I hop out of the shower and it takes five minutes to dry!"

Seeing as Gossip Girl airs on the channel formerly known as The WB — the same network that famously prevented its leading ladies from getting drastic haircuts after Felicity-gate in 1999 — maybe this was the first time Meester was allowed to get such a different hairstyle. Good to see she's enjoying her newfound freedom.
