ringside seat：拳击比赛中靠近拳击台的观察席位，此处比喻为近距离观察。

driving seat：驾驶座，这里 表示“掌控大局”。

backseat driver：后排座位上的司机，坐在后面喜欢告诉开车的人如何开车，意思就是指手划脚，乱提意见。

5. She does not have to take a back seat to any singer of her time.
同任何一位同时代的歌唱家相比，她都毫不逊色。

take a back seat：做在后排座位，喻指甘居人后，允许他人领先。
