When people attend social functions in America, some may say they are going in order to "network". What does "network" mean? Network can be used as either a noun or a verb. Your network is your social circle: your group of friends, coworkers, and colleagues. When you go networking, you are trying to expand your social circle. People often network because they want to develop more advantageous friendships and business relationships. They do so at parties and other events outside of work even though the activity can often help them with work. It is often helpful to know as many people as possible -- who knows when you might need their help! Or when you can help them!
在美国，人们参加社交活动的时候，喜欢说他们要去参加一个活动，目的是为了“network”。“network”可以是一个名词也可以是一个动词，意思是“你的交友圈子”，可以是你的朋友、你的合作伙伴、你的同事。当“network”用于动词的时候表示的是你想扩大你的社交圈。 人们在工作之余参加一些活动和聚会，而这些聚会可能对人们的工作有帮助。尽可能多认识一些朋友总是有益的，谁知道什么时候你需要别人的帮助呢？或者别人需要你的帮助呢？
