Have a picnic

The Greens woke up very early last Saturday. Without much( prompting), the children, Nancy, Karen and Kim quickly washed up and were all ready to set off soon. They had long waited for this family picnic.

Mrs. Green took out the bread, peanut butter and jam. Nancy and Karen helped to make six hamburgers. They put them into two lunch boxes and placed them in a basket. The youngest kid, Kim, cut apples and pears. He put the pieces into a plastic bag and added some grapes. Mrs. Green then put a bag of cookies and some napkins into the basket.

“The food is ready. Let’s carry it to the car,” said Mrs. Green. “We have a long way to go and we need to start early.”

Nancybrought along a piece of cloth for sitting on the ground, while Karen gathered a few outdoor games and some cards so they would have something to play in the park.

They arrived at the park at 9:00 a.m. The wind was blowing gently.

“The sky is clear today,” Mrs Green smiled, “The rain has finally stopped!”

“We haven’t done this for a long time,” Kim laughed. “I hope the ants don’t know we’re coming!”
