The author and director of movie series Tiny Times, Guo Jingming, will produce another movie based on his writings, which is going to be the biggest project of this year! It is quite understandable, considering the movie will be produced by Guo Jingming, the most bankable writer of modern China, and feats some of the biggest stars such as Fan Bingbing and Kris Wu.
The whole movie is computer generated, Original Force team used a cutting-edge 3D scanning system that captures detailed shape and reflectance properties of actors’ face so they can create photorealistic digital substitutes for each actor. As a fresh shooting methods for Chinese filmmaker, this technique manages to mix the line between animation and live action in a way like never before.
“What’s fantastic is that there’s a real growing appreciation for performance-capture technology as a tool for acting. Over the years, people have asked me, “Do you think there should be a separate category for acting in the digital realm? Or hybrid sort of awards for digital characters?” and so on. And I’ve always really maintained that I don’t believe so. I think it should be considered acting, because it is. My part in it, what I do, as say the authorship of the role, the creation, the emotional content of the role, the physicality up until the point of delivering that for the director, it is acting.
