斯蒂芬·史密斯在致辞中表示，自己是第一次来到上海，也是第一个访问上海世博会和澳大利亚馆的联邦部长，祝贺上海世博会成功举办，把全世界带到了中国，同时也把中国带给了全世界。澳大利亚馆成为较受欢迎展馆之一，至今已经有50万名游客参观澳大利亚馆。

仪式结束后，斯蒂芬·史密斯、华君铎等参观了澳大利亚馆。嘉宾们步入“旅行”展区，那是一条长达160米、环绕展馆的全封闭玻璃通道，观展嘉宾从沿途的6个展区，领略澳大利亚的历史并体会它的独特之处，感受澳大利亚的多元文化。

馆内的另一主要展区——“发现”展区中有一个可容纳1000人的环形剧场，跳跃的袋鼠，繁茂的植物，澳大利亚的城市以及居住其中的人们的生活……凡此种种，任由参观者用眼睛和耳朵去“发现”那片充满想象力的热土。

A ceremony was held this morning to celebrate the official opening of the Australia Pavilion.

Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said at the ceremony that he was delighted about 500,000 people had visited the pavilion to date since the Expo's opening.

The pavilion is a fun and relaxed place for people of all ages. Divided into three distinct but inter-related sections labeled "Journey," "Discover" and "Enjoy," the pavilion incorporates almost every aspect of Australian life.

There is a theater which can accommodate 1,000 viewers inside the pavilion.
