conceal, hide, screen

这些动词均含“隐藏，隐蔽”之意。

conceal : 正式用词，多强调有目的、有意识，巧妙地进行隐藏或隐瞒。

During the talk among the comrades, nothing should be concealed.（同志间的交谈应该是开诚相见。）

hide : 普通用词，既可指有意地隐藏，又可指无意或偶然地藏匿。

My younger brother hides behind the door.（我弟弟躲在门后。）

screen : 指把处于被发现的人或物掩盖起来，使其不被发现。

A floppy hat screened her face.（一顶有边的软帽遮住了她的脸。）

concentrate, focus

这两个动词均有“集中，聚集”之意。

concentrate : 指把人或物集中在一起，也可指把精力或注意力集中于某一事物上。

The general decided to concentrate his forces near the capital.（这位将军决定把他的部队集中在首都附近。）

focus : 侧重指把光、热、射线等集中于一点，也可指把思想或精力等集中于某人或某事情上。

The beams of light moved across the sky and focused on the aircraft.（光束穿过天空，射向飞机。）
