Hi, boys and girls. I am John Smith, a language teacher from a New York high school I know many of you find it hard to learn English well, because it is a foreign language in your country. It means you cannot find daily uses for English once you get out of your classrooms. But if you have a clear purpose for learning English, things will be different. You will have better focus on your English lessons. Today I’m going to give you several reasons why English language is important to learn, to help you find a good purpose for your English learning.

First, many books, newspapers, airports and air-traffic control, technology, sports, pop music and advertising have the English as their No.1 language.
Then, in general, the popular language on the Internet is the English.
Next, you can travel to any English speaking country without the need of a translator. Even if in a country whose official language is not English, you will always find at least one person who speaks English to help you.
Finally, a lot of educational information is in English; therefore to use this material or maybe communicate with other students, it is necessary to learn English.
