"When I heard them saying nice things on the red carpet... that was the thing that really struck me to my core, and it got to a point - it was like a tipping point, I'd say - where I was signing something [and] I heard Zachary [Quinto] saying something very complimentary about me and I started to cry," Cumberbatch recalled.
"The thing that really moved me, actually, was the new family that I have in this franchise, who I'm surrounded with. You really are only as good as the people you work with and I couldn't have wished for a more welcoming and talented bunch of people," he said.
Apart from the new movie,Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have signed up for a fourth season of BBC hit detective drama Sherlock, Radio Times magazine reported on its website Tuesday.
"We've agreed to two more series, but I could get into trouble for saying that," it quoted Cumberbatch as saying. "All I know at the moment is I'm doing these three [episodes of the upcoming third season] and another three."
Star Trek Into Darkness is a 2013 American science fiction action film. It is the twelfth installment in the Star Trek franchise and the sequel to 2009's Star Trek. J. J. Abrams directed a screenplay written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof, based on the series of the same name created by Gene Roddenberry. Lindelof, Orci, Kurtzman and Abrams also serve as producers, along with Bryan Burk. Chris Pine reprises his role as Captain James T. Kirk, with Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Leonard Nimoy, John Cho, and Bruce Greenwood reprising their roles from the previous film. Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Weller and Alice Eve round out the film's principal cast.
