Basically he just had to do what he was told, and he asked no questions. Following order efficiently was good enough, and that was what Hodge did. The money was good, that was sufficient for him at the time. He did not think too much about what the contents of the shipments, where they came from, nor where they were going. Hodge did see what the goods looked like, and he could guess what the transactions were about, but he was only a distributor, earning a hefty commission from that mechanical voice on the other side of the phone line.
